About Vayukah Drones
Vayukah Drone Systems and Services Pvt Ltd. is an OEM drone manufacturer based in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, and a DPIIT-recognized startup. We build drones for survey, mapping, and inspection. Our focus is on reliable, efficient, compliant, and user-friendly enterprise drone systems, supported by in-house engineering, system integration, prototyping, and product development. We are expanding our team to support the growth of drone technology and large-scale manufacturing in India.
Responsibilities
- Translate concepts, requirements, and ideas into detailed engineering designs and functional products
- Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements
- Design and develop drone airframes and structural components accounting for weight distribution, strength, thermal, vibration and aerodynamic performance
- Select off the shelf components (motors, propellers, actuators, fasteners) and integrate them into the overall design
- Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings with proper GD&T using AUTODESK FUSION360
- Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes (CNC machining, 3D printing, sheet metal, composites) based on application requirements
- Estimate material, tooling, and production costs during the design phase
- Analyze test data and iterate designs to improve performance, reliability, and manufacturability
- Run basic design validation (fit checks, tolerance stacking, load/stress considerations) and iterate based on test feedback
- Support manufacturing processes by addressing design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) considerations
- Maintain organized CAD libraries, revision control, and design documentation
- Support BOM creation and coordinate with fabricators during production
- Support prototype builds and hands-on assembly of drone units and sub-assemblies
- Work closely with electronics, manufacturing, and field testing teams to resolve design-integration issues
- Collaborate with production, quality, procurement, and marketing teams throughout the product lifecycle
- Identify opportunities to improve existing products through innovation, optimization, and cost reduction
- Assist with troubleshooting design or production issues as needed
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field
- 3 – 4 years of experience in mechanical/product design, ideally in drones, aerospace, robotics, or a related hardware field
- Experience with CAD modeling, Analysis, Drafting, and Design documentation
- Strong proficiency in CAD software (FUSION 360 (preferred), SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar)
- Solid understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles and serviceability considerations
- Working knowledge of materials commonly used in UAV design (composites, aluminum, engineering plastics)
- Strong proficiency in Analysis and Simulation tools (FEA, CFD, Modal and Thermal analysis) is a must (ANSYS is preferred)
- Ability to analyze test results and apply engineering judgment to design improvements
- Comfortable with hands-on prototype assembly and troubleshooting fit/build issues
- Ability to produce clear, manufacturing-ready drawings and documentation
- Good communication skills to work cross-functionally with electronics and production teams
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to design accuracy and quality
